CREATIVE ACTIVISM

We believe immersive storytelling can empower people to respond proactively, and envoke change. Much of what threatens the world is hard to see. It's too large, too far away, or just outside the range of human senses. Nobody fights for what they've never felt, so we work with charities, cultural organisations and changemakers to bring these urgent social and environmental stories within reach.

Immersive storytelling for social and environmental change

We find the story, build the narrative and its visual world, using 360 immersive content, unusual canvases and the right creative tools to give form to what the eye can't see. The goal is to place people inside the story, creating space for curiosity, emotion and discovery, and making the stakes impossible to ignore.

Supported by the British Council, this immersive documentary explores the relationship between everyday events and humanity’s excessive demand for the Earth’s resources.

Under the direction of Mike Faulkner (D:Fuse) Observatory worked from artboards and developed a motion graphic workflow with optimised data management for streaming. Custumised for various screening configurations around the world having currently shown at the BFi, Camden Roundhouse, COP 26 and international locations such as Indonesia, Lebanon, Brazil and Vietnam

EarthSonic × In Place of War Collaborations

EarthSonic tells the story of climate change through music. It's the climate programme of In Place of War, a global organisation that backs creativity in places of conflict, poverty and crisis. Each project brings together Indigenous communities, electronic musicians, researchers and artists around environmental stories all around the world. We've been EarthSonic's AV and creative partner since Flow, shaping the visual language for each project and, with Two Seas and Vinorun, helping them stage their first immersive installations, built to tour internationally. The installations can move between festivals and venues internationally without flying entire groups of artists around the world, allowing EarthSonic to reach wider audiences with a lower touring footprint.

The first touring production with Earthsonic: a project on water and climate change, told through the voices of women around the world. As Creative Director, Ben Sheppee created the visual identity and content, which became the backdrop to EarthSonic's performances at COP30 in the Amazon, Climate Action Week 2026 and COP31.

Two Seas is an immersive installation about two bodies of water at opposite ends of the same crisis: the frozen Bothnian Bay in Finland and the evaporated Aral Sea in Uzbekistan. Directed by Ben Sheppee, it was created with Paranoid London, Matt Black of Coldcut and artists from Finland and Uzbekistan. Its full premiere at the Nxt Museum, Amsterdam, was one of 30 icon events of Amsterdam Dance Event's 30th anniversary.

Vinorun is an immersive installation about the disappearing ecological knowledge of the Bobolian community in Sabah, Borneo. The plants themselves are the heroes of the story: their electrical signals are recordedand used to generate visual output, and the typography is drawn from the shapes of their own leaves. Created with musician Paul Hartnoll of Orbital traditional Rungus musician Razif Ajip.

GOT A CAUSE WORTH TELLING?

Each year, we set aside time to support a small number of projects with charities, cultural organisations and changemakers working on causes we believe in.
We want to hear from charities, cultural organisations and changemakers working on causes where our creativity could genuinely make a difference. If you have a story, body of research or idea that deserves a different way into the world, talk to us.
